Ethics

The ethical stance of MemoreeBook is that this site is for you, not for marketers or advertisers, and not for us. We never plan to sell your data or access to you for marketing purposes. This site is about storing and sharing your life story with friends and family and that will always be our focus.

Giving Back

MemoreeBook will contribute a minimum of ten percent of all profits to charities that support the homeless, the hungry, health care, education, and veterans. If there are other charities you feel we should support please let us know at info@memoreebook.com.

Privacy

You manage who see what, you are in control. We will never share your data with anyone, ever. Your data is your data and you control who sees it by setting your audience when you post new information.

Marketing

Unlike other social media platforms we do not sell advertising. This means your feeds will never show ads or things you are not interested in. This site is meant for sharing life stories, not selling trinkets or bath soaps.

Referrals

Referring users is a great way to offset the cost of your subscription and the pay for permanent storgage. Simply vist the referrals page and share information about MemoreeBook with your friends. Remind them to enter in your referral code which is displayed for you on the referrals page. If they sign up $5 will be added to your escrow account. The referrals go three levels deep so if that person refers someone else and they sign up you get $3 and again if that person refers someone and they sign up you still get a dollar in your escrow account.

Cancel Membership

Unlike so many sites that make it a huge undertaking to cancel your membership it is simple on MemoreeBook. Just visit the misc/membership.php">membership page, scroll down, and click Cancel Membership. That is all there is to it. Billing will be shut off and your account will be marked inactive. You can always come back later and reactivate your account. Data on your account will be stored for at least one year during your inactivity.

Permanent Storage

You can purchase permanent storage on Memoreebook. When we say permanent we mean forever. How can we do this? When an account becomes inactive we can move it is data to an archive which is inexpensive. This allows us to store vast amounts of data very cheaply. We will cover that cost with new users and a fee to retrieve your data for someone who wants to see it say 100 years from now. If you choose not to store your data permanently it will likely be removed from the system some time after you become inactive. We will notify you before that happens of course and allow you a chance to save it if you so choose. We will also notify your friends should you pass away and encourage them to contribute to store any data that has not been secured. Should MemoreeBook ever become insolvent we will make an annoucement that all the data is publicly available for download and offer to share it with the Unites State National Archives.

Transfer Management of Account

If you created a Memorial Account or added a person who is not a member to your family tree, congratulations, you are managing accounts. The accounts will show when you hover over your name on the main menu under "Managed Accounts". Tranfer of ownership can only be done with a friend. You will need to select the account you want to transfer from your Managed Users list. Once selected you are now impersonating that user. Go to settings (again shows when hovering over your name in the main menu) and you will see an option for transfering ownership. This is not automatic, the target user must accept the transfer. If the process is taking too long you can always rescind your request and send it to another friend.

Media Management

You will notice that you have a media section on the site which displays all the media you have posted and organizes it by categories. If you posted with no category then the media will display in the miscellaneous section for you. If you want to recateogrize an image you can click on it which will open the originating post and change the category and it will not appear in the category or categories you have selected.
